Mie Hama
Mie Hama was born in Tokyo, Japan, on 20 November 1943 and her Cantonese
name, 'Mie', means 'beautiful'. Her first job was as a bus fare collector where she was
spotted by producer 'Tomoyuki Tanaka' (qv). Her debut in sci-fi came when she starred as
"Fumiko Sakaurai" in _Kingukongu tai Gojira (1962)_ (qv). She was the first
woman to be pursued by Godzilla and to be held in the paw by Japan's version of King Kong.
Today she is an active environmentalist. Few other movies acted by her
are, Arashi no
yushatachi , Suna no kaori , What's Up, Tiger Lily? , Honkon no yoru and many more.
